<li>Stiff or tense posture, with limbs completely stretched out or pulled  tight into the body. Babies may also wiggle or squirm, or be &#8220;floppy&#8221; as  if they&#8217;ve lost <span id="lw_1253055941_3">muscle tone</span>.</li>
<li><span id="lw_1253055941_4">Fussiness</span> or irritability that can&#8217;t be soothed or comforted.</li>
<li>Not eating or not sleeping.</li>

Tests revealed nearly a third of devices harbour significant levels of a bug that causes lung disease. Levels of Mycobacterium avium were 100 times higher than those found in typical household water supplies. M. avium forms a biofilm that clings to the inside of the shower head, reports the National Academy of Science.</p>
<p>In the Proceedings journal, the study authors say their findings might explain why there have been more cases of these lung infections in recent years, linked with people tending to take more showers and fewer baths. Water spurting from shower heads can distribute bacteria-filled droplets that suspend themselves in the air and can easily be inhaled into the deepest parts of the lungs, say the scientists from the University of Colorado at Boulder.</p>
<p><strong>Potential threat</strong></p>
<p>Lead researcher Professor Norman Pace, said: &#8220;If you are getting a face full of water when you first turn your shower on, that means you are probably getting a particularly high load of Mycobacterium avium, which may not be too healthy.&#8221;</p>

<p>While it is rarely a problem for most healthy people, those with weakened immune systems, like the elderly, pregnant women or those who are fighting off other diseases, can be susceptible to infection. They may develop lung infection with M. avium and experience symptoms including tiredness, a persistent, dry cough, shortness of breath and weakness, and generally feel unwell.</p>
<p>When the researchers swabbed and tested 50 shower heads from nine cities in seven different states in the US, including New York City and Denver, they found 30% of the devices posed a potential risk. Since plastic shower heads appear to &#8220;load up&#8221; with more bacteria-rich biofilms, metal shower heads may be a good alternative, said Professor Pace.</p>
<p>Showers have also been identified as a route for spreading other infectious diseases, including a type of pneumonia called Legionnaires&#8217; disease and chest infections with a bacterium called Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Hot tubs and spa pools carry a similar infection risk, according to the Health Protection Agency.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-846" title="stress" src="http://www.overviewhealth.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/stress-199x300.jpg" alt="stress" width="199" height="300" />What can you do to try and stay on top of the stress so it doesn&#8217;t affect your health, happiness, or waistline?</p>
<p>1. Exercise. Amen for endorphins. Believe me, they&#8217;ve helped me many days with my perspective. If you have to work out, then go take a brisk walk and get that blood flowing. It isn&#8217;t about working out to lose weight &#8212; it&#8217;s about being healthy and staying sane.</p>
<p>2. Eat the real stuff. Crappy food (fast, processed, and loaded with sugar) doesn&#8217;t help your chemical brain and body handle stress. Living food, real food, helps support your mind and body while it&#8217;s trying to deal with the million things coming its way. Every time I reach for the chocolate, I&#8217;m looking to feel something from it. Don&#8217;t get me wrong &#8212; if it&#8217;s just a little here and there because I enjoy the taste of it, great. But if I&#8217;m using it the minute I feel overwhelmed, then that&#8217;s when that food is no longer OK to eat. It doesn&#8217;t make the problem go away, and then I just feel bad about eating the food to pacify myself. Grab green food instead. Put things in your mouth that are going to support your immune function and keep you levelheaded.</p>
<p>3. Notice. Try not to let the stress overtake you. Recognize the situations that cause the stress and notice them coming your way. You have a better shot at fending off the full effects of the stress when you can anticipate it.</p>
<p>4. Get it off your chest. Talk to a friend or partner about the stress. Sometimes just getting it off your chest can help unload some of the burden.<span id="more-845"></span></p>
<p>5. Keep your sense of humor. If you do have the chance to talk about it, try to see the irony and humor in the wacky bits. I think someone is dead in the water once they lose their sense of humor.</p>
<p>6. Stay grateful. My daughter has large lungs and verbal skills she likes to display. Just when I start to wishfully think about her being quiet, I remind myself to be grateful that she can talk to me at all. In almost all of our problems are boatloads of blessings. &#8220;Oh, I don&#8217;t feel like going to the gym.&#8221;  Well, Amen that you have the means and the health to even be able to wrestle with the idea of going to work out. Make a habit of saying thank you. You will notice the sunny spots a lot more often, and not just the gray skies and storms.</p>
<p>7. Ask, &#8220;What&#8217;s the hurry?&#8221;  Have some fun. We&#8217;re always so busy going somewhere, we miss just enjoying the moment. If an opportunity comes your way to do something fun, take it.</p>
<p>8. Take a deep breath. When you feel the stress getting to you, take a moment. Get away, even if it&#8217;s just for an hour, to be with yourself and your thoughts. Some people like to take a walk, meditate, lock themselves away in a beautiful bath, or go to church. Find the peace and the silence.</p>
<p>9. Keep it simple. Simplify where you can. Does Junior really need to be in 78 activities at the age of 5?  Do you have to go to every little party or gathering you&#8217;re invited to?</p>
<p>10. Turn of the TV. A lot of it is bad news anyway, and it robs us of hours that we could use to be getting other things done. Since everyone complains that they have no time, get some by unplugging from the tube.</p>

<p>Migraine headaches are throbbing or pulsating headaches that are usually unilateral and are often associated with nausea; light and sound sensitivity; vomiting; sleep disruption and depression.</p>
<p>Migraines are caused by the dilation and constriction of blood vessels that release inflammatory substances that causes painful pulsations. A Migraine generally lasts from 4-6 hours, but like tension headaches, can last far longer. Frequency of migraines also varies tremendously.</p>
<p>The two most common types of migraines are migraines with aura and migraines without aura. Aura is a neurological phenomenon that is usually experienced 10-30 minutes before the headache.</p>
<p>The most common types of aura are usually described as bright shimmering lights around objects or at the edges of your vision. Other auras include zigzag lines, wavy images or hallucinations. In rare cases the aura can also be a temporary loss of vision.<span id="more-811"></span></p>
<p>Other less common types of migraines include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Basilar Artery Migraine</li>
<li> Carotidynia</li>
<li> Headache-free Migraine</li>
<li> Abdominal Migraine (Most common in small children)</li>
<li> Ocular Migraine</li>
<li> Status Migraines (Rare but very serious type that lasts more than 72 hours, and usually need hospitalization).</li>
</ul>
<p>Treatments of migraines also depend on the severity, frequency and type of migraine. Treatments are generally divided into two categories:</p>
<p><strong>Prophylactic treatment</strong> – Which aims to prevent or reduce the number of migraines<br />
<strong>Abortive treatment</strong> – Which aims to alleviate symptoms and reduce the duration of the migraine.</p>
<p>Other treatments of migraines which have proven successful include the non-pharmaceutical modalities mentioned in connection with tension headaches, these are: therapeutic ultrasound, massage and relaxation therapy.</p>
<p>If ever you experience what you believe to be a migraine, be sure to consult your physician, as certain neurological conditions and tumors have very similar symptoms.</p>
<p>Migraines and headaches can cause serious depression, chronic pain and a decrease in quality of life, however it need not to. Medicine has reached a stage where most of the symptoms (if not the cause), can be alleviated or cured.</p>
<p>If you suffer from any of the symptoms mentioned here it is advised that you consult your physician for the best course of treatment. In today’s stressful life we can’t afford to live in constant pain, luckily with pharmaceutical, therapeutic and if need be – surgical help, we don’t need to.</p>

<p>The premise of the Sonoma Diet is based on the eating habits and foods of the Mediterranean. It “emphasizes eating a generous variety of foods that boost your vitality, protect your heart, and improve your overall health.” You eat wholesome, fresh food that is easy to find and prepare, rather than nutrition bars, protein drinks, and frozen prepared meals.</p>
<p>The recipes revolve around ten “power foods,” most of which are common in Mediterranean cooking: whole grains, almonds, bell peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, grapes, spinach, blueberries, strawberries and olive oil. The diet is managed in three phases, or “waves.”</p>
<p>Wave 1 is the kickstart to the diet and lasts for 10 days. Wave 2 is the eating plan you&#8217;ll stay with until you reach your target weight. Once you reach your target weight, the third wave or maintenance phase begins.</p>

All people pass gas, some people more than others. It is normal to pass gas from 6 to 20 times per day.</p>
<p>Intestinal gas is made up of oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and methane. The foul smell usually is caused by small traces of gases such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and methane.</p>
<p>Gas that forms after eating meat and eggs tends to smell bad, while gas derived from fruits and vegetables usually does not have an odor.<span id="more-794"></span></p>
<p><strong>What causes gas?</strong></p>
<p>Common causes of gas include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Swallowed air. If swallowed air is not burped up, it passes through the digestive tract and is released through the anus as flatus. Excessive air swallowing may cause hiccups</li>
<li>Foods and beverages. The amount of gas that different foods cause varies from person to person.</li>
<li> Constipation. This can cause bloating but generally does not increase gas.</li>
<li> Medicines or nutritional supplements. Both prescription and non-prescription medicines, as well as dietary supplements, can cause bloating and gas as side effects.</li>
<li>A medical condition, such as a bowel obstruction or Crohn&#8217;s disease.</li>
<li>Changes in hormone levels. It is common for women to have bloating right before their periods because their bodies retain fluid.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Can I treat or prevent gas?</strong></p>
<p>You may be able to prevent gas by changing your eating and drinking habits. Occasionally gas is a symptom of a medical condition that requires treatment.<br />
<strong>Examples of gas-producing foods are:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li> Vegetables such as artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, green peppers, onions, peas, radishes, and raw potatoes.</li>
<li>Beans and other legumes.</li>
<li>Fruits such as apricots, bananas, melons, peaches, pears, prunes, and raw apples.</li>
<li> Wheat and wheat bran.</li>
<li> Eggs.</li>
<li>Carbonated drinks, fruit drinks, beer, and red wine.</li>
<li>Fried and fatty foods.</li>
<li> Sugar and sugar substitutes.</li>
<li> Milk and other dairy products, especially in people who have trouble digesting lactose, the main sugar found in milk.</li>
<li>Packaged foods that contain lactose, such as breads, cereal, and salad dressing.</li>
</ul>
<p>Dietary supplements such as Beano may help to prevent gas.</p>
<p>Some people get relief from gas from products containing simethicone, a medication that dissolves gas bubbles. Nonprescription medications with simethicone include Gas-X and Mylicon.</p>

These findings could be just the motivation for the people who claim they don&#8217;t  have enough time to exercise need to get moving.</p>
<p>One expert stated that merely performing 10-minute exercise bouts  for at least 30 minutes a day would work on lowering fats in the blood as opposed to no exercise at all. Not enough hours in the day to exercise no longer holds as a valid excuse as these short 10-minute bursts of exercise have proven to help prevent cardiovascular disease.</p>
<p>Experts also noted that taking a leisurely stroll around the block wouldn&#8217;t qualify as meeting this cardiovascular benefit. Instead,  they suggested walking at a moderate pace or taking a light jog. The negative cardiovascular consequences of eating a high-fat meal happens when there is an abnormally high increase in fat, a condition known as postprandial lipemia, which has been linked to increasing the risk of heart disease.</p>

<p>Researchers tested the effects of short-term exercise in a study on 18 men and women who didn&#8217;t follow a daily exercise routine. The participants were given a high-fat meal consisting of a milk shake with heavy whipping cream on three separate occasions for  the next few weeks.</p>
<p>The duration of exercise before meals were divided into three categories:</p>
<ul>
<li>The participants exercised continuously for 30 minutes</li>
<li>The participants exercised for 30 minutes in three 10-minute  				increments</li>
<li>The participants didn&#8217;t exercise at all</li>
</ul>
<p>Before and several times after each meal measurements of triglycerides and other blood fats were taken.</p>
<p>Overall, total cholesterol levels remained the same, however it did appear that triglyceride levels were less pronounced after a bout of exercise as opposed to no exercise at all. This led researchers to believe that exercise did have a positive influence on keeping triglyceride levels from rising after a high-fat meal.</p>
