How to Ease Headaches Without Drugs

Sometimes over-the-counter drugs don’t ease my headaches. Home remedies ease my headaches better than drugs. Here are the ways to ease headaches without drugs.

Stay hydrated
You should drink plenty of cool, plain water. Sometimes a headache can be caused by dehydration. Drinking cool water will keep you hydrated and it will help you get your daily water intake.

Get enough sleep
Headaches can be brought on because you didn’t get enough sleep. If it’s possible, you should try to get seven or eight houses of sleep a night.

Avoid overusing pain medications
You should avoid going over the recommended dosage
of medication. That can make your headache even worse than it was before.

Get something to eat
You can ease your headache by eating something because it could be a hunger headache. You could eat some fruit to help your blood sugar because your blood sugar could be up or down.

Take a nap
Take a nap for a few minutes. Taking a nap relaxes you and you may not notice your headache. You can also try closing your eyes and not thinking about your problems in order to ease your headache.

Take a shower
Taking a shower may relax you and ease the tension in your head. You should try and take a warm shower because that may relax you. (more…)

Types of Migraines and Treatment Options

Migraine headaches are throbbing or pulsating headaches that are usually unilateral and are often associated with nausea; light and sound sensitivity; vomiting; sleep disruption and depression.

Migraines are caused by the dilation and constriction of blood vessels that release inflammatory substances that causes painful pulsations. A Migraine generally lasts from 4-6 hours, but like tension headaches, can last far longer. Frequency of migraines also varies tremendously.

The two most common types of migraines are migraines with aura and migraines without aura. Aura is a neurological phenomenon that is usually experienced 10-30 minutes before the headache.

The most common types of aura are usually described as bright shimmering lights around objects or at the edges of your vision. Other auras include zigzag lines, wavy images or hallucinations. In rare cases the aura can also be a temporary loss of vision. (more…)
